In Family a parent gives minutes to a child; in Teaching a teacher gives minutes to a learner. Splitting the pool this way stops one person from using up everyone’s practice time. What you hand out is still counted in minutes.
Where it is
Space → Allocate practice time. You can also start from Usage → Allocate time.
Steps
- Open Family or Teaching and create the child or learner account first.
- Open Space → Allocate practice time.
- Under Allocate to, pick the person.
- Enter a positive number under Adjust minutes (for example
30), then tap Confirm allocation. - A message confirms the minutes were allocated. The child or learner sees Can still practice (read-only) on Me or the Practice page after signing in.
- Review the history in Usage and Billing.
Points and benefits
- You allocate points (practice minutes) from your subscription or add-on packs. Benefits from the platform cannot be allocated.
- On the child or learner side, what they can use is what you allocated.
- Details: Points and benefits, Minutes pool and top-ups.
Why allocate
| Without allocation | What can happen |
|---|---|
| Everyone draws from one pool | One person uses it up quickly and others can’t practise |
| The child doesn’t know how much is left | Practice gets cut off halfway |
If…
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| The pool is empty | Check whether your plan includes minutes or buy an add-on pack. See Minutes pool and top-ups |
| The child still can’t practise after you allocate | Make sure the child is signed in to the right child account, then refresh and try again |
